Each year, on the third Sunday of August, a very special event occurs in Nantucket Harbour. A parade of Nantucket's classic wooden boats, The Rainbows Fleet, (known everywhere else in the worls as Beetlecats) sail around Brant Point Lighthouse to kick off the start of the Opera House Cup. The Opera House Cup was the first wooden sailboat race held on the Eastern Coast and brings some of the finest wooden boats to Nantucket. The race was created by Gwen Gaillard, owner of The Opera House Resturant, a much loved island institution. Marshall Gardiner immortalized the Rainbows sailing around the point in his 1930's print and Erica has captured the moment in sitches. Now you can too.
